ThermaENERGY Systems Inc. (TES) is developing the Independent Thermal/Electrical Storage System. The system stores electrical energy in the form of heat, supplying electricity when required. The electrical energy is stored in modules, allowing for relatively simple expansion: if more energy is required, more modules are added. The system can be assembled almost anywhere and contains no environmentally harmful materials. It can produce one to hundreds of megawatts of power on demand.

Using this breakthrough storage technology, wind-generated power becomes sustainable and off-peak generated electricity can be stored for use during peak consumption periods. The system can also utilize excess heat generated from numerous industrial processes, including smelters, foundries, refineries, petrochemical, manufacturing and more. This previously wasted energy can then be captured and reused to generate electricity for operations or to be sold back into the grid.
